IN HER OWN WORDS...

I am the founder of Reiniku Films, Shekinah Apedo. Before I tell you more about Reiniku Films, let me explain to you what Reiniku means. Reiniku is a Japanese word that means body and soul. I chose that name because my passion is filmmaking and therefore I devote every part of myself to making quality films. I believe watching a film should be a mind-blowing perceptual escape from reality, essentially that's what films are but I'm talking about this on a entirely different level. I want to make movies that are cerebral, but at the same time films that in the end always impact the heart of my audience.

Directors that influence me...

Federico Fellini, Hideo Nakata, Fritz Lang, Jean-Pierre Jeunet, Wong Kar-wai, Tim Burton, Luchino Visconti, Roberto Rossellini, Baz Luhrmann, Fernando Meirelles, Yuen Woo Ping, Mira Nair, Luc Besson, Larry Clark, Darren Aronofsky, Michel Gondry, Amy Heckerling, Zhang Ximou, Tony Scott, Joel Schumacher, Catherine Hardwick, etc...

Some of my favorite films are...

Chaos, Cube, Snake Eyes, Om Shanti Om, La Femme Nikita, The Professional, Run Lola Run, Trainspotting, Bully, Amadeus, Requiem for a Dream, Flatliners, Beyond Hypothermia, Metropolis, Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, Higher Learning, Man on Fire, 8MM, City of God, Dark City, Natural Born Killers, Obsessione, La Terra Trema, Dr. Strangelove, Stealing Beauty, House of Flying Daggers, Romeo & Juliet (1996), Moulin Rouge!, Amores Perros, Om Shanti Om, 28 Days Later, Fallen Angels, Amelie, Kill Bill, Nights of Cabiria, Fong Sai Yuk series, Beverly Hills Cop II, Back to the Future I & II, Narc, The Constant Gardener, Thirteen, Nightmare on Elm Street series, Equilibrium, The Omen, Domino (2005), Versus, Drunken Master, Tai Chi Master, Full-Time Killer, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, etc...
